What do you take with you when you meet your prospects?

So, you are off to see a new prospect.  They are just the type of person you are looking for to do business with.  You turn up, on time, you are correctly dressed and remembered to wash behind your ears.

Your prospect has already arrived and is sitting comfortably where you agreed to meet.  They have been doing their homework on your business. They have lots of documents they downloaded and as you start the conversations, they have obviously taken the trouble to read your website.

How do you feel at this point?  Are you ready for them? Have you put as much effort into finding out about them?

And now comes the crucial a part…. What have you got in the way of a sales kit?

I met one business owner who worked with multinational companies providing a bespoke product for the building industry.  His business was floundering; he was having trouble converting prospects into customers.  When we looked at his sales folder, it was an embarrassment.  Photos printed on thin A4 paper in a tatty ring binder that looked like a schoolboy’s homework.

How would you feel if you went into a shop and there was a mess everywhere; I think I would just walk right out again.  So why would you not make sure your sales kit looks the part and gives the right message about you and your business?

Maybe it would be worth checking to see if your sales kit looks like it needs refreshing or maybe putting something together if you don’t have one.
